Lucasfilm Portfolio / Demo Reel Submission Policy
This is to inform you of our procedure regarding submissions of portfolios and demo tapes, and to provide a form for your signature should you desire to submit artwork or music to us so that we may evaluate you as a potential artist, musician or composer for an upcoming production.
Lucasfilm does not accept unsolicited artwork, music, proposals, outlines, manuscripts or other creative material; if we receive such material, we will return it unread to the person who submitted it. If you are interested in being evaluated for employment or freelance consulting work and you wish to include materials such as what is listed above, you must sign, date and return to us a submission release when submitting any artwork or demo tapes. A submission release for your signature is enclosed with this letter. We will not evaluate anyone for potential employment without having received from that person a signed and dated submission release. Please return the submission release promptly, as we will return or destroy any submitted material if such a release has not been received by us within a reasonable period of time.
Your adherence to the procedure set forth above will help us to maintain high creative and artistic standards, and protect the intellectual property of our artists and sound designers. Thank you for your cooperation.
Guidelines for Submitting a Reel:
- A completed submission release form is required for all portfolio submissions. We will not review your work until we receive your release form.
- When submitting your portfolio/reel, please do not include originals as we are unable to return the materials you submit.
- Reels should be on DVD only NTSC - no Beta, VHS, 3/4" or CDs, please.
- Please submit your CD or DVD demo reel in the Quicktime media format.
- Please include a shot breakdown explaining what you did on your reel and what software (if applicable) was used to achieve the effects. The length of your reel should be limited to 3 minutes and consist of work that best exemplifies your abilities, starting with your most recent work. Music is not necessary.
